Bagnaia secured pole position in Le Mans, while Marc Márquez claimed second place with a lap record.
The Spanish rider had to go through Q1, where he flew, setting a historic track record of 1:29.288.
In Q2, Marc Márquez showed his best form, unlike Friday’s performance. However, the No. 93 rider was outpaced by an exceptional Pecco Bagnaia, who took pole by only 12 thousandths of a second.
Marc had to contend with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who managed to overtake him, as well as Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Quartararo. Ultimately, the Spaniard finished second, with the Rimini rider taking third and the Roman finishing fourth. Pedro Acosta slipped into fifth place ahead of the Frenchman.
On the final lap, there was contact between Di Giannantonio and Bagnaia, but the stewards found no infringement by Fabio, so Pecco kept pole.
Álex Márquez qualified 10th. Among other Spanish riders, Joan Mir will start in seventh position, Jorge Martín in eighth, and Álex Márquez in 10th. The sprint race of the French Grand Prix will take place this afternoon.
