After a difficult period at Eintracht Frankfurt, Junior Dina Ebimbe has found a new lease on life during his loan spell at Stade Brest. The 25-year-old winger, who went from November 2024 to September 2025 with just eleven minutes of playing time for the Bundesliga side, spoke openly about his recent transformation.
“I was afraid that I would lose everything. But in Brest, I was healed,” Dina Ebimbe told Sport Bild. The Cameroon international changed his lifestyle and surroundings to relaunch his career on the pitch. After a failed winter transfer to AS Monaco due to a failed medical check, he moved to Brest last summer.
Dina Ebimbe, who joined Eintracht from Paris Saint-Germain in 2022 for €6.5 million, admitted his previous struggles were partly self-inflicted. “I am physically and finally mentally fit again. I now understand that football is not only my passion but also my job. That was not clear to me before,” he said.
His downturn followed a strong 2023/24 season with 15 goal involvements in 44 matches. In 2024/25, he only played 12 games, totaling around 500 minutes, and his market value dropped from €14 million to €6 million. One reason, he cited, was his trusting nature. “I give my trust away easily. Unfortunately, I gave it to people who exploited me. I paid a high price for that. Now I only trust those who were there for me when I wasn’t playing.”
At Brest, Dina Ebimbe has become a regular starter in the second half of the season. In 26 Ligue 1 appearances this campaign, he has scored five goals. His market value has stabilized at €6 million. The French side, currently 12th in the table, reportedly has a €7 million purchase option on him. “I don’t know exactly if they will trigger it. I don’t think so. I’ll probably go back to Frankfurt first,” he added.
For Stade Brest, a transfer of that magnitude would be a club record. Their most expensive signings to date are Franck Honorat and Steve Mounié, each for €5 million in 2020. Dina Ebimbe acknowledged that Eintracht operates in a different financial league. When he left, coach Dino Toppmöller had no plans for him. “When I left, I was no longer allowed to train with the first team. But if they give me a chance under the new coach, I will definitely give 100 percent. If not, I will still give everything to be in the best shape for another club,” he said.
Dina Ebimbe’s contract with Eintracht runs until 2027. “I will come back as a new person. I love Frankfurt, I love this club, and I love the fans. They have done so much for me, I cannot deny that. So I respect their decisions.”
He also reflected on the contrasting career paths since Hugo Ekitiké, another former PSG player, joined Eintracht in February 2024 with a market value of €15 million. Ekitiké later moved to Liverpool for €95 million, while Dina Ebimbe went to Brest. “Many of my teammates understood it earlier than me. Hugo Ekitiké, for example. Football is tough; you have to work harder than others. In Frankfurt, I closed my eyes to that. I was too relaxed,” he admitted.
Dina Ebimbe is one of seven Eintracht Frankfurt loan players this season, with a combined market value of €26.8 million. The SGE squad for 2026/27 currently includes 35 professionals, among them ten defensive and offensive wing players.
